- 2 cups peeled and sliced apples
- 1 cup fresh cranberries
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 package refrigerated pie crust (or homemade)
- 1 tbsp butter, cubed
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- In a bowl, mix apples, cranberries, sugars, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cornstarch.
- Roll out one pie crust and place it in a 9-inch pie dish.
- Pour the filling into the crust and dot with butter.
- Cover with the second crust, seal edges, and cut slits for venting.
- Brush the top with beaten egg.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool before serving.
Notes
- Use firm apples like Granny Smith for better texture.
- If cranberries are too tart, increase sugar slightly.
- Let the pie cool to set the filling.
