Description

Delicious caramel apple shortbread crumble bars with layers of buttery shortbread, spiced apples, and caramel.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, cold
  • 3 medium apples, peeled and diced
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Mix flour, granulated sugar, and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly.
  3. Press half the mixture into the pan. Bake for 15 minutes.
  4. Toss apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Spread over baked crust.
  5. Drizzle caramel sauce over apples.
  6. Mix oats into remaining dough. Crumble over apples.
  7. Bake 25-30 minutes until golden.
  8. Cool completely before cutting.
