Ingredients
1 box of chocolate cake mix
1 can of Dr. Pepper
3 eggs
1/2 cup of oil
1 jar of maraschino cherries
Optional: 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
Optional: A handful of chocolate chips
Optional: Chopped pecans or walnuts
Optional: Cherry-flavored glaze
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, eggs, and oil.
3. Slowly pour in the Dr. Pepper and stir until smooth.
4. Gently fold in the maraschino cherries.
5. Pour the batter into a greased cake pan.
6. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
7. Allow the cake to cool before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
To enhance the cherry flavor, add cherry juice from the maraschino jar to the batter.
For a different twist, try using cherry cola or classic cola instead of Dr. Pepper.
Store the cake in an airtight container for up to three days at room temperature or a week in the fridge.
Freeze slices for longer storage.
