Description

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Whisk flour, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
  2. Cream butter and brown sugar until fluffy. Beat in egg, molasses, and vanilla.
  3. Gradually mix dry ingredients into wet until combined.
  4. Divide dough into 2 disks, wrap in plastic, and chill for 2 hours.
  5. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Roll dough to 1/4-inch thickness.
  6. Cut into shapes with cookie cutters and place on parchment-lined sheets.
  7. Bake for 8-10 minutes. Cool before decorating.
