- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 medium apples, peeled and diced
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a bowl, mix flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Cut in butter until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
- Stir in egg and milk to form a soft dough.
- Press half the dough into the pan.
- Toss apples with cinnamon and brown sugar, then spread over the dough.
- Crumble the remaining dough on top.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden.
- Cool before serving.
Notes
- Use tart apples like Granny Smith for best results.
- Serve warm with custard or whipped cream.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
