- 1 tsp baking powder

- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 cup pecans, chopped
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat butter and granulated sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla.
- Alternately add flour mixture and milk, mixing until smooth.
- Spread melted butter in the cake pan, sprinkle brown sugar, then pecans.
- Pour batter over the pecan layer and smooth the top.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cool for 10 minutes, then invert onto a plate.

- Check doneness at 35 minutes to avoid overbaking.
