Smoky Chipotle Chocolate Brownies

Ingredients
  

Brownie Batter

  • 1 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar packed
  • 4 eggs large
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp chipotle chili powder adjust to taste
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips optional

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking pan with parchment paper.
  • Melt the butter and let it cool slightly. In a large bowl, whisk together the butter and both sugars until glossy.
  • Whisk in the eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
  • Sift in flour, cocoa powder, chipotle powder, and salt. Fold gently until just combined.
  • Stir in chocolate chips if using, and pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  • Bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Cool completely before slicing into squares. Enjoy!

Notes

Start with 1/2 tsp chipotle for mild spice. For a more intense kick, go up to 1 tsp. These freeze beautifully!
